Civil society organizations from the Global South, and with the support of other NGOs, urge the EU to fully and transparently enforce the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by December 31, 2025, as originally adopted.
Recent proposals by some EU Member States and objections in the European Parliament suggest adding a “no-risk” category to the EUDR, undermining key due diligence measures like geolocation and supply chain transparency.

This move threatens to water down the Regulation just as the world faces escalating climate emergencies and biodiversity collapse.
Weakening the EUDR would protect individual corporate interests at the expense of forests, Indigenous People and Local Communities, and future generations.

Europe cannot demand climate action from the Global South while retreating from its own responsibilities. The climate crisis is here—there is no time left to any delay of decisive and responsible action.

We call for the timely, full, and transparent implementation of the EUDR by December 31, 2025, as outlined in the current legislative text.
